Anna Vander Hoek grew up in a very musical household in Calgary, Alberta. Her mother is a piano teacher and her sister is a cellist. It was only natural for her to learn a musical instrument and she started taking piano lessons with her mother for a few years before she decided to pursue the violin more seriously. She developed an interest in orchestral music and decided to join the children and youth orchestras through Mount Royal University.
During her childhood and youth, she performed at the Calgary Kiwanis festivals for piano, violin and orchestra. She completed her RCM level 10 in violin at the age of 18 and decided to start teaching right away, as she wanted to pass down her passion for music to children of all ages. She has also attained her Yamaha violin certification and has taught group violin classes, as well as private lessons. She studied early childhood education at Mount Royal University and graduated in 2012. She has experience working in daycares, preschools, as well as a nanny and aspires to combine her two passions as her future career goal.
