Lessons – We offer private, one-on-one sessions that cater to each student’s individual needs in the following instruments: Violin, Viola, Cello and Double Bass. The violin in the smallest instrument in the string family. The viola, cello and double bass are all part of the string family and offer a variety of beautiful sounds when blended together with other string instruments.
All string instrument students will have the opportunity to participate in group classes and/or string ensemble. Playing in a group setting helps develop great musical skills and motivate children to practice. It stresses the importance of listening, not just to your own playing, but those around you. Students who are ready for note reading will develop their skills at sight reading and playing one piece of music with various melodies and harmonies in our String Ensemble. This increases focus and listening skills required of musicians. Students will also have the opportunity to work with other students at Harmony Music School on different instruments, whether it’s playing a duet with a piano student or quartet with multiple instruments.
String Ensemble – The string ensemble is an enhancement class available for all string instrument students who want to join our string ensemble. These classes are open to HMS students and non-HMS students who are interested in playing and performing in a group. Non-HMS students must audition to be placed into a suitable string ensemble. Students playing in a group setting develop greater musical skills in note reading, sight reading and learning various melodies and harmonies within the pieces. The string ensemble class helps to motivate children to practice and also stresses the importance of listening, not just to your own playing, but to those around you. The ensemble group meets every Friday from 6:00-7:00 at our Central campus.
