Young Musician’s Class (Ages 5-6)

Our goal is to nurture each student’s creativity and explore music and movement as one unit at an early age. Using nursery rhymes, stories and songs, our youngest students will learn that music is everywhere. Our curriculum is based on the principals of Kodaly, Suzuki, and Orff.

Course Description:

The Young Musicians’ Classes of Harmony Music School, like all accredited early childhood music programs of significant music schools of the Western world, combine aspects of the Kodály method, the Orff system, the Dalcroze Eurhythmics and the Suzuki movement, to create a holistic, fun, and music-filled learning environment for our students. Starting with the use of their voices as their first instruments, our students gradually develop a deep understanding of music, through bodily experience, rhythm and movement.

Students have the opportunity to explore a variety of percussion (xylophones, metallophones, rhythm sticks, drums, etc.) to experiment, investigate, and explore the nature of sound, rhythm, and music in general.

Parental involvement is critical in the Young Musician’s program. Parents join in for the last 10 minutes of each class, and are encouraged to review the musical activities at home. Students have weekly take home activities/worksheets to reinforce what was learned in the class.

Young Musician/Students develop their musical skills (singing in-tune, sense of rhythm and pulse, melody, phrasing, dynamics, tempo etc.), which enhance their musical abilities, present their musical talents, and prepare them for their future music studies, by developing a healthy, and solid musical background.

  • The rate for per ECE class is $15* per lesson.
